Virgin wool, cashmere and cotton: our fabrics

Virgin wool is new wool that has never been used in another product or recycled. Our virgin wool, cashmere and cotton cloths are chosen for their hand and drape. A coat should hold the shoulder and fall straight, from morning to night.

Material, chosen first

At Lebrun Paris, choosing the fabric is a founding step. Each material is selected for its fibre quality, its consistency and the way it ages. The exact composition of each piece is listed on its product page.

The right fabric is not always seen. It is felt.

The materials

Natural fibres

Virgin wool and wool-cashmereVirgin wool for spring and hold, cashmere for softness and warmth. Alone or blended, they shape coats and jackets without ever weighing them down.

140's Prince of Wales checkA fine wool, carefully woven, with a discreet pattern and precise drape, for pleated trousers that keep their line all day.

Cotton, corduroy and gabardineCottons, corduroys and tightly woven gabardines, for more casual pieces that give nothing away on structure.

Material-by-material details are in our glossary of fabrics.

Weight

Cloths with body

A fabric that is too light sags, creases and cannot hold the shoulder. Our cloths start at a minimum of 350 g/m², the point at which a fabric truly structures a silhouette.

Some pieces, such as the double-breasted coat or the wool overshirt, go up to 900 g/m²: real protection against the cold, and the heavy drape that signals a true material.

Structure

The invisible work, inside

A jacket that lasts is built from the inside. Shoulder pads, chest piece, tailoring canvas and reinforcement stitches give support, structure and comfort where the eye does not go.

Linings are in acetate-viscose, chosen for their fluidity, sewn in rather than fused.

In short

How can I find out what a piece is made of?

The exact composition, main fabric and lining, is listed on each product page. To understand our approach, see our approach.

Which materials do you use?

Natural materials: virgin wool, cashmere, cotton, corduroy and gabardine, including 140's Prince of Wales check wool for trousers. Details in our glossary.

Why such heavy fabrics?

Because a dense cloth, from 350 up to 900 g/m² on coats, structures the silhouette, protects from the cold and keeps its shape season after season.
